Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month to ensure the nation was given the chance to publicly show appreciation for our troops, past and present. It serves as a reminder of the profound contributions made by service members. At Greystones Group, we are proud to employ military reservists and veterans. To close out Military Appreciation Month, we talked to one of our own- Crystal Eatmon, Senior Analyst at Greystones, about her experience transitioning from the U.S. Navy to civilian life and her role at Greystones Group.
Crystal served in the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Virginia for more than four years as an Intelligence Officer. When she decided to transition out of the military, she joined a large government contracting firm she was familiar with. Having a background in the military and understanding the military language, the acronyms and the culture made it a logical transition. Her advice to active military that want to transition to civilian life is to network and to attend the career trade shows focused on veteran placements.
She then worked in several positions in the defense industry, including more than 10 years at NAVWAR, one of six major Department of Navy acquisition commands, where she was a project manager and led a team of government and contractor personnel providing support to Navy Modernization and Navy C4I training.
She joined Greystones last year as a Senior Analyst to provide support for their NAVSEA clients within the SEA 09P modernization policy group. Crystal says that Greystones was a natural progression of her career as it was a good culture fit, while leveraging her military and civilian experience.
